The newest trailer for Mortal Kombat 1 reveals its latest challenger: Geras. If you’re unfamiliar, he’s the keeper of the hourglass of time who debuted in Mortal Kombat 11, and given that Mortal Kombat 1 is all about timeline shenanigans it makes sense he’d appear to tidy things up. (By punching them.)

Geras seems to have brought back his Temporal Advantage ability, which lets him freeze an opponent in time and then hit them in the butt (or wherever). Remnant 2’s third DLC, The Dark Horizon is out now—and it represents somewhat of a victory lap for Gunfire Games who’ve made a game I’ve been a pretty large advocate for. It’s felt like a bit of an oasis in a sea of live service speculative tailspins—Gunfire decided to simply release three quite good DLCs in the span of a year at a reasonable price point, with nary a battle pass in sight.

Just a day after promising they were working on it, the Content Warning team has released a patch that fixes a handful of bugs and adds three new items: reporter mics, party poppers, and a sound player.

The patch announcement came via an in-game video clip that looks like it was done with minimal preparation—and by “minimal” I mean somebody handed Zorro a piece of paper and said “read this, we’ll fix it in post” and then skipped the “fix it in post” part.

At AMD’s Computex 2024 keynote Dr. Lisa Su was keen to point out how well its Radeon Instinct MI300X graphics cards do when paired with OpenAI’s latest tools. Unfortunately, all it did was once more prove that you really ought not to trust everything you’re told by an AI.

Two Point Studios has announced the release date of Two Point Museum, the next game in its Two Point series, as March 4, 2025. It’s now available for prepurchase as well, with a price of $30 for the standard edition and $40 for a deluxe explorer edition.

Following on the vein mined by Two Point Hospital and Two Point Campus, Two Point Museum will be a management game that puts you in charge of building specialized museums at locations around the fictional and very silly world of Two Point County. You’ll send out expeditions to find new two-point treasures that you’ll display in a museum you design, lay out, and run with guest tours, pricing, and staff assignments. Since the dramatic and exciting Starfield gameplay reveal trailer released back in 2022, it’s largely been radio silence from Bethesda in terms of revealing new details about the game.

However, one eagle-eyed gamer has just seemingly spotted a Starfield feature that has been hiding in plain sight ever since that gameplay trailer reveal—it’s just that hardly any gamers spotted it.

The discovery, which was posted in a thread on the Starfield subreddit, was made when the gamer just happened to spot that in one frame of the gameplay trailer you can see the option to ‘pickpocket’ an NPC.

Bungie recently won nearly $500,000 in damages from a Destiny 2 player who subjected one of its community managers to repeated racist harassment and threats. The victory was hailed by developers at Bungie and beyond as a significant step forward in the effort to eliminate abuse from “fans”: Kathryn Tewson, a paralegal who worked on the case, said the ruling in favor of Bungie “has created a path for those with the resources to identify stochastic terrorists and hold them accountable” in court.

That may be so, but it doesn’t mean that the problem is going away anytime soon—in fact, Bungie recently said in the Destiny subreddit that developers, including some who aren’t community managers, are still being harassed “just because they work at Bungie.”

Back when AMD previewed the Zen 5 architecture, it promised an IPC gain averaging 16% over equivalent Zen 4 parts. While the new chips handily beat out the older ones in heavily threaded benchmarks, the gains were smaller in games. That led to some criticisms, with many gamers believing the new chips didn’t offer enough to tempt them to upgrade.

AMD acknowledged these concerns in a blog post, saying it’s internal testing was “run in admin mode, which produced results that reflect branch prediction code optimizations not present in the version of Windows reviewers used to test Ryzen 9000 Series”. The blog goes on to say the Windows 11 24H2 update will improve Zen 5 gaming performance when it’s released later this year.

Sony has apologized to Naughty Dog studio boss Neil Druckmann for “misrepresenting his words” in a recent promotional interview, which it acknowledged contained “several significant errors and inaccuracies.” The interview has now been taken down.

In the interview published by Sony last week, Druckmann reportedly praised the potential of generative AI, saying it is “opening the door for us to take on more adventurous projects and push the boundaries of storytelling in games.” He also talked up the studio’s next game, which he said “could redefine mainstream perceptions of gaming.”

But shortly after the interview went up, Druckmann took to Twitter to clarify that the reported statement about redefining perceptions of gaming was “not quite what I said.”

Diablo 4 players can finally rest easy—that is, unless they’re trying to farm these pieces themselves—as the last of Diablo 4’s six elusive super-rare items has been found. As spotted by AnyComputer on the Diablo 4 subreddit, the final piece of the collection was The Melted Heart of Selig. It dropped for a Chinese necromancer player in the Blind Burrows, a dungeon that can be found in the Hawezar region of the map.

The Heart’s effect isn’t that exciting, unfortunately. It gives a substantial boost to your class’s resource, but turns it into a pseudo-barrier, draining 3-8 of your resource for every 1% of damage you would’ve otherwise taken.

Walmart and Roblox have teamed up to provide a service I didn’t know anyone needed: letting anyone over the age of 13 browse and buy goods from Walmart via Roblox, which amounts to an Inception-style headache. 

There was already a way to walk through a virtual retail shop via Roblox’s Walmart Discovered: a game that lets players discover new Roblox games, buy emotes, customize their very own Walmart cart, and show off their favourite items. It was made by Walmart in a crossover event with Roblox. It’s not cool when a retailer leak blows a big game announcement. Just ask Bethesda, which saw its surprise Rage 2 announcement spoiled by an errant Walmart Canada listing.
